About Paula Noblitt
My art reflect my experiences, encounters and perception of those around me. Subjects are those that stick with me for one reason or another. Creating art allows me to slow down, focus and notice the world around me. I try to identify and capture the qualities of the subject or experience that make it memorable to me and share those special moments with the viewer, whether it is light and color, the energy and emotion of musicians, or solitude and life challenges.
My style varies somewhat as I allow my perception of the subject to dictate the process. Some paintings have been described as quiet in terms of color and simplicity, while others incorporate bright colors and iridescence. The voice of the painting generally reflects my mood and vice versa. Some work explores dreamy, soft or drippy backgrounds sometimes using highly pigmented inks or liquid acrylics while others offer a subdued background to focus on the form of the main subject. I work in acrylic, watercolor and pastel. All work is nondigital.
